A jilted wife put her ring on Facebook Marketplace. What happened left her gobsmacked

A jilted wife trying to sell an engagement ring on Facebook Marketplace after her marriage ended has been bombarded with messages from single men asking her out on a date.

Camille, a newly single woman from the US, shared a series of “cringe” messages she received in her inbox from strangers after she advertised the diamond ring for sale.

“POV: Your husband leaves you so you try and sell your engagement ring,” the nurse said.

One suitor, known as Gonzalo, tried his luck by asking her whether the ring was “still available”, to which Camille replied: “Yes, are you still interested?”

“To be honest, I really don’t want the ring. I (would) rather just use the ring to re-marry you,” Gonzalo responded.

A second admirer named Dallyn was transparent in his opening line.

“Hey I’m not interested in the ring, but I would be interested in taking you on a date sometime. What do you think?” Dallyn said.

A third man named Alex was next: “I’m not looking for a ring yet. Would it be bold of me to take my shot?”

And Tyson turned on his charm with: “Hey Camille, I don’t want to buy the ring but how about I take you country dancing and we can talk about what you are going through?”

Camille joked: “Ladies, delete Hinge and download Facebook Marketplace.

“Anyway does anyone want my ring?”

Her post has been viewed more than 2.4 million times – with many describing the men’s responses as “brilliant”, “hysterical”, “wild” and “the audacity”.

“I love this because it proves it’s his loss – but I also am really sorry because it sucks to a degree no matter what,” one said.

Another joked: “The dating pool is shallow. Bonus points for getting creative on where to look.”

One shared: “Meanwhile it took me three years to sell mine and I got zero messages like this.”

While another added: “Well that took a turn I wasn’t expecting. You go girl!”

Many encouraged Camille to accept Tyson’s sweet offer.

“Ma’am… your husband’s loss. Get your boots on and go dancing,” one said.

Another suggested: “The way I would absolutely take up the dancing.”

One added: “TEAM TYSON. How cute is that message. Go dancing!”

However, not everyone agreed, with one saying: “Red flags all of them. Sell the ring and live your best life.”

While one confessed: “I threw my engagement ring in a skip at the dump.”

Some shared their own amusing encounters with single men on social media.

“I remember getting asked out on Facebook Marketplace when I was selling all the extra furniture during my divorce,” one said.

Another shared: “Oh man that’s like me selling anything on Facebook Marketplace. I had to change my profile picture to dogs.”

One revealed: “I was selling my old mountain bike on marketplace, and a guy asked me out because he wanted a girl who liked mountain biking.”

Meanwhile, many joked about creating an ad on Facebook Marketplace in an effort to find dates.

“So what you’re telling me is that Facebook Marketplace is the new dating app?” one said.

Another suggested: “So sell a ring on marketplace and I might meet my future husband? Sounds good to me because dating apps ain’t working.”
